I am an Australian who has been based in London for the past 8 years, enjoying the travel opportunities that such an accessible location offers.
My passion for photography started in high school when I fell in love with how a single image could say so much about a moment in time. But, instead of following my heart in becoming a creative, I followed the science route and became a trained ecologist and environmental planner. To be honest, I was too scared to pursue this passion as a career. Thankfully the last two years have seen a change in the stability of my work as a freelance environmental consultant. As much as I love environmental work, I just don’t get the same buzz as I do when I’m capturing images.
I love working as a photographer, and feel guilty calling it work or a job (as those words remind me of something that is hard, tedious and not much fun). My approach to photography, and most things in life, is to keep everything simple, relaxed and enjoy the the mood and flow of the shoot as it unfolds.
I’m currently volunteering in Greece for 3 months, with a Marine Conservation organisation, building my portfolio of environmental images, and will be returning to London in early December 2011.
